Jill Fine wrote many poems as she was growing up and turned that creativity into writing songs in 1997 when she had her first child. She wrote many “kids songs” for her three children as they were growing up. She started writing Jewish music in 2016 with the encouragement of her temple’s music director, Emily Tummons. Jill wrote several songs that were performed in Kansas City at community-wide song sessions hosted by Congregation Beth Torah in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Jill and her husband, Mike, wrote a wedding song, Ani L’Dodi Wedding Medley, as a surprise for their friend’s wedding which was performed in New York in 2017. She has written many secular songs but really enjoys writing Jewish songs for Shabbat based on liturgy and prayers from Mishkan T’filah. Jill sang in the volunteer adult and women’s choirs at her temple for several years. Jill and Mike live in the Kansas City area and have 3 adult children and 2 dogs. In addition to writing songs, Jill likes to travel and spend any free time creating artwork.
